Coerver Coaching Southeast USA and
Coaches Across Continents ( www.coachesacrosscontinents.com )
provided two professional football educators, Coerver Coaching’s Paul Gibbons and Coaches Across Continents director Nick Gates in
New Delhi in April 2008.

Paul ’Gibbo’ Gibbons (far right) arrived in India on April 6 to begin a two week training program with boys and girls in New Delhi through a partnership with the Deeksha Sports Management.

There was great excitement in India about the launch of the program and the visit included a press conference, nine days of clinics for more than 250 young people and Paul, Nick and Sean were working with local coaches to begin their coach education development.

The moment you arrive you are overwhelmed by the contrasts. In Europe and the United States we have become accustomed to conveniences and refined culture; in India you are mesmerized by the poverty, captivated by the beauty of the people and shocked by the lack of sanitation, and even more surprised with their indifference. They in turned were dumbfounded that an Englishman would travel to their town to coach boys and girls soccer skills. What we bring back from this eternal place is why we come. The joy that came with the dust and turmoil was well worth the miles.
