Champions Through and Through, Treasure Coast United U11 Girls Make it a Great Year

Congratulations to the TCU U11 Girls for a fantastic tournament and wonderful season.

What a memorable weekend for the Treasure Coast United U11 Girls team from Palm City, Florida.

The team competed in the 30th Annual 2008 Seminole Memorial Invitational Soccer Tournament in Altamonte Springs, Florida in the U11 Premier division coming away with the Championship.

The team consisting of Gracie Baecher, Jackie Byers, Karleigh Cox, Taylor Crews, Brett Harper, Sarah Livings, Victoria Simm, Jordyn Smith, Talbott Zamiela, Ryenne Dietrick and managed by Michael Simm, Matt Livings and Chloe Stokes (Coerver Coach) played some tremendous soccer throughout the tournament, beating Florida Soccer Alliance in the finals on penalty kicks.

All tournament long, TCU controlled play with some crisp passing and excellent shooting and displayed this same style in the finals against the FSA Wildcats. However, the FSA Wildcats would not go quietly and showed their spirit by tying the game in the closing minute. In the end, the TCU girls triumphed making all their penalty kicks, while FSA missed two.

All year long, these girls have been sharpening and honing their skills under the direct tutelage of Paul "Gibbo" Gibbons, Director of Coerver Coaching Southeast USA and Director of Coaching at TCU.

Competitive in just about every tournament they entered to finishing second in the Palm Beach League behind the Delray Beach Hot Shots, this group of girls showed tremendous improvement in their soccer skills, which was rewarded with the Championship on Memorial Day Weekend.

Gibbo who employs the Coerver Coaching method, emphasizes ball skills versus just playing "kick ball" has trained most of these girls since they were 8 years olds. In fact, earlier in the month, the girls competed in the Challenge Sports Palm Bay Challenge, where their skills and ball movement were noticed by University of Central Florida’s Assistant Women’s Coach, Colby Hale.

Colby Hale is assistant to Amanda Cromwell at UCF who was recently added to the U-20 Women’s National team coaching staff. Colby was so impressed at their level of play that he recently visited Palm City to hold a training session with the Club and gave a lecture to parents about what to expect from college coaches.
